July 3-14, 2026
Our first Photography Tour was loved by all so we are adding an extra day and traveling to new places in 2026! Join Jonathan Byrd to explore some of the isles of Scotland with a creative eye! Will there be music, history, culture and camaraderie too? Why yes, there will be all the things.

This is an active tour. There are hikes that may have you scrambling a bit. Much of it will be mild, but there are less than a handful of walks that will be more strenuous.

Itinerary

Our tour officially begins the morning of July 3rd with the coach picking us up in Old Town, Edinburgh. The night before (July 2nd) is on your own, but we will gather for an early evening meet and greet on the 2nd at Radisson Blu. If you would like to also stay at Radisson Blu on the 2nd, we can put you in touch with our contact there to book.

July 3-6:  3 nights on the Isle of Skye

The Isle of Skye is known for its rugged landscapes, medieval castles, picturesque fishing villages, history and outstanding scenery, including the magical fairy pools and Dunvegan Castle, home of the Fairy Flag. We plan some gorgeous hikes on the island that will invariably inspire ‘oohs’ and ‘ahhhs.’ You'll also have free time to explore and enjoy.

July 6-8: 2 nights on the Isle of Lewis

You’ll fall in love with the most extraordinary remote corner of the British Isles. Lewis and Harris are full of raw and captivating natural beauty, rugged mountains, sweeping coastlines, and tranquil lochs. We’ll visit the most picturesque white sand beaches, lighthouses, rock formations from the Jurassic period, charming villages and Callanish Stone Circle believed to be even older than the famous Stonehenge in England. We will also be able to explore the Northton Salt Flats created by the unique geology and tidal patterns along with one of the largest and most well-preserved medieval churches in the Outer Hebrides, St Clement's Church.

July 8-9: 1 night in Ullapool

We'll break up our journey in the picturesque fishing town of Ullapool, nestled on the shores of Lochbroom. Situated in one of the most unspoilt natural environments in the UK, our short stay promises ample opportunities for some great photographic captures.

July 9-12: 3 nights on the Isle of Orkney

We’ll then head to Orkney to appreciate sandstone cliffs, Neolithic sites, and seal colonies. We’ll visit beautiful bays, enchanting harbors, abandoned buildings and relics from past wars, and with any luck get to see puffins and seals. A clifftop nature reserve, Marwick Head, is a prime spot for cliff nesting puffins, and we’ll visit a cove that is a haven for seals. We’ll also be able to explore the world's most complete Neolithic village, Skara Brae, dating back to 3180-2500 BC.

July 12-13: 1 night in Elgin

Elgin lies on the south coast of the Moray Firth and has a beautiful city centre with a rich history to explore, period buildings and much of its medieval layout remaining. This will be a lovely stop on our journey back to Edinburgh

July 13th:: Return to overnight in Edinburgh with some scenic stops along the way. This evening, we will gather for a group dinner and  sharing.

July 14th, Day 11: Flights back home or your continued journey
