Marshall, NC meets Scotland! Join Raven Sinclaire for a tour of history, beauty, culture and music. During our eleven days together, we will experience breathtaking scenery, castles, museums and ancient historical sites and be treated to some private concerts at night. Note: this is a moderately active tour with some hikes - nothing crazy, but please reach out before booking if you have mobility issues.
Your tour includes stays in 4-star eco-friendly hotels when available, breakfast every day and 4 group dinners. Here's our tentative itinerary. The finalized tour may vary slightly and will be emailed to all participants closer to time:
Days 1-3: Fly into Edinburgh, rest for awhile or meander the Royal Mile before a cocktail hour meet and greet. Our first three days and nights will be spent in Edinburgh, seeing the sights around the gothic capital city of Scotland, including a visit to nearby Rosslyn Chapel and Glen. During our stay in the city, you may choose to meander through storybook neighborhoods and mysterious wynds and closes (narrow walking paths off of the streets) and hear some of the fascinating history that spans generations. You'll have a chance to explore the Royal Mile, museums and historical monuments while enjoying sights, sounds and tastes that are sure to be memorable. I strive to give a good mix of included group activities and free time. We will also host a private concert. Our home in Edinburgh will be the Radisson Blu Hotel in the City Centre.
Day 4-6: We travel to Dunkeld, a charming village in the heart of Scotland, where we will take short day trips. You'll hear some of the dramatic history that has spawned legends such as William Wallace, Robert the Bruce, and Mary Queen of Scots while visiting sites such as Dunkeld Cathedral, Birks of Aberfeldy and 'Birnam Wood' mentioned in Shakespeare's famous Scottish Play. In the evening, we will host a private concert one night, we may gather on the river for a fireside chat or you may choose to visit a local pub for live music. Our three night home in Dunkeld will be Tay House.
Day 7-9: We travel to Inverness, known as the ‘Highland Capital’, though it still retains its market town feel. We will visit ancient Clava Cairns, Urquhart Castle, and other local treasures. You'll have a bit of free time to stroll the river that runs through the city, as well as a private concert. Our hotel home for 3 nights will be Lochardil House.
Day 10: We travel through stunning Glencoe, where we will overnight and get a taste of this area's rugged beauty. Hotel tbd.
Day 11: We journey back to Edinburgh for an afternoon of your own exploration before meeting for our farewell group dinner and overnight in Edinburgh, once again at Radisson Blu.
Day 12 Leave for the airport for those returning home.
