Note this is a Sample Itinerary: Hotels and routes may change. You'll be emailed the final itinerary one month before departure, but even then we always leave space for the unexpected finds and last minute discoveries!

May 1-10, 2026
Join Alex, author of novels and stories about musical fairies from the Smoky Mountains living among us (the Tufa novels) and other enchanting tales, as we explore the hidden and the mystical in a faraway land.

Itinerary

Days  1-3: Fly into Edinburgh.

Our first three days and nights will be spent in Edinburgh, seeing the sights around the gothic capital city of Scotland, including a visit to the enigmatic Rosslyn Chapel and Glen and a city walking tour. We'll hear tales of the real Jeckyl and Hyde and the Bodysnatchers and explore this mysterious city of closes and wynds.  You'll have a chance to meander the Royal Mile, museums and historical monuments with ample free time, while enjoying sights, sounds and tastes that are sure to be memorable. In the evenings, we will gather for great Scottish music. Our home in Edinburgh will be the Radisson Blu Hotel in the City Centre.

Day  4-6: We board the coach for a stop at Stirling Castle, filled with both history and spirits, then travel onward to Dunkeld in the heart of Scotland. This is an area with dramatic history that has spawned legends such as William Wallace, Robert the Bruce, Mary Queen of Scots and the Wolf of Badenoch, called the most evil man in Scotland. It's not all dark and twisty though. We will meander through fae filled woodlands and see the real Birnam Wood and Dunsinane Hill from Shakespear's Macbeth. This is the perfect spot for an evening fire by the river and author chat with Alex. Our three night home in Dunkeld will be Tay House.

Day  7-8: We travel to Nairn, a seaside village in the Highlands. with beautiful beaches at our doorstep. From this relaxing base we'll visit Clava Cairns, a Bronze Age cemetery complex of passage graves; ring cairns, kerb cairns and standing stones in a beautiful setting, and walk the path to magical Fairy Glen Falls. We may weave a wish at the Clootie Well, and enjoy a private concert in the evening. Our two night home will be The Invernairne.

Day 9: For our final night, we will journey back to Edinburgh for our final group dinner at the Radisson Blu.

Our tours are different than most. We follow a model of Regenerative Tourism, meaning we strive to leave a place better than we found it. Tours are carefully curated to support Scottish communities and be mindful of areas that are overtouristed. You will be seeing Scotland with local guides and friends who show up to share music and stories. You will not be seeing this enchanting land through a coach window with quick stops. We take our time and a portion of every tour goes back to conservation efforts in the areas we visit. Thanks for supporting small businesses and community efforts around Scotland!
