A Taste of Scotland
with Chef J Chong

This is a Sample Itinerary: Hotels and routes may slightly change. You'll be emailed the final itinerary one month before departure, but even then, we always leave space for the unexpected finds and last minute discoveries!

May 1-11, 2026

Traceless Tours is proud to partner with Chef J Chong, a beloved chef in Asheville, NC, who catapulted to national attention with a finalist position in HBO Max’s cooking-competition show, “The Big Brunch.” J is the creatrix of J Chong Eats and shares traditional Cantonese dishes in her wildly anticipated pop-ups around Asheville.

Join J and Raven, founder of Traceless Tours, on a food journey that will take us from source to table and everything in between. The sustainable food movement is strong in Scotland with a collaborative aim to create a food system that is environmentally responsible, economically viable, and socially just. We love that and can’t wait to share it with you!

Itinerary

We have a three-night stay policy in each location, so you'll have time to settle in and enjoy the culinary riches of Scotland through history, experience and taste. Our first three nights will be in the vibrant capital city of Edinburgh, a UNESCO World Heritage city and gothic wonder where old meets new. During our time here, you’ll sample the street food offerings of Leith, meet with a local guide to bring the origins of Old Town to life, visit a farm store café, enjoy a private group dinner at a local restaurant and still have ample free time for your own adventures such as a visit to Edinburgh Castle or Holyrood Palace, an underground tour of Mary King's Close or a meander through one of many fabulous museums.

Our next stop is the wee village of Dunkeld in the heart of Scotland. An official Sister city to Asheville, this picture-perfect town sits along the banks of the River Tay with an abundance of nature walks and hikes, a community garden and orchard, and traditional Scottish music coming out its pores. We’ll visit a local farm committed to regenerative practices, make the short drive to Perth for a food tour, enjoy a private concert that you won't soon forget and have time to relax into this welcoming community. J will collaborate with a local chef for a fun experience and our second group dinner.

Next we head to Inverness, which sits on the River Ness and has a plethora of food experiences. During our stay, we will visit Loch Ness and castles, learn more about the art of tweed and tartan from the women weavers of Rebel Row, explore the peace of a hidden fairy glen, and go foraging with a local guide. We'll also visit a family run Highland Dairy and cheese pantry to sample their love and care in the form of cheese! History and music are a given for all our tours and J will be sharing her wisdom, tips and tales along the way.

Our travels take us back to Edinburgh for a final night, group dinner and memory sharing.

Did you know?

Our tours are different than most. We follow a model of Regenerative Tourism, meaning we strive to leave a place better than we found it. Tours are carefully curated to support Scottish communities and be mindful of areas that are overtouristed. You will be seeing Scotland with local guides and friends who show up to share music, food and stories. You will not be seeing this enchanting land through a coach window with quick stops. We take our time and a portion of every tour goes back to conservation efforts in the areas we visit. Thanks for supporting small businesses and community efforts around Scotland!
